<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Aging is a continuous process. Depending on a person's physical, mental, and psychosocial status, various changes in abilities occur, affecting daily activities and participation in society. With age, the likelihood of functional decline and loss of functional abilities increases. However, physical and mental training has been shown to slow this process [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit1">1</xref>]. Geriatric rehabilitation (GR) is a field of medicine that focuses on preventing and promoting health, focusing on physical functioning and independence in daily life. A second component is rehabilitation after injury or illness, starting in the intensive care unit. Rehabilitation specialists should be part of a multidisciplinary team and that leads the rehabilitation process. GR can help frail older adults maintain independence in long-term care facilities. Understanding the relationships between diseases, pathophysiology, and impaired performance, and individual risks is the basis for rehabilitation planning. The knowledge of training mechanisms, exercise, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, as well as team processes, makes physical therapists experts in GR [<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="cit2">2</xref>].</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>гериатрия</kwd><kwd>пожилые люди</kwd><kwd>старческая астения</kwd><kwd>реабилитация</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>geriatrics</kwd><kwd>elderly people</kwd><kwd>frailty</kwd><kwd>rehabilitation</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Исследование выполнено в рамках госзадания.
